Description

Self Portrait is an intimate and layered exploration of identity, memory, and inner fragmentation.

The face emerges through overlapping planes of color and texture, partially obscured and reassembled as if seen through shifting states of perception. Rather than offering a fixed likeness, the portrait unfolds as a psychological landscape, where presence is built through accumulation, interruption, and depth.

Paolo Amoretti’s expressive use of gesture and chromatic contrast gives the work a sense of tension and vulnerability. The eyes appear suspended within the composition, inviting the viewer into a silent exchange that feels both personal and universal. Marks, abrasions, and translucent layers suggest the passage of time and the complexity of self-observation.

Self Portrait does not seek clarity, but resonance. It speaks of the self as a fluid and evolving presence, shaped by experience rather than definition.
